Edna Redberg very kindly excerpted these interesting portions of the Lars John Redberg Diaries and provided them to NVMS. Note that the complete diaries of Lars John Redberg spanning many years are in the Pioneer Museum in Tillamook, Oregon. They were donated by Erwin and Edna Redberg.

Page 18 - January 1909 - October 5, 1909(Note that included in this page of entries are some terms that are especially by modern standards considered very derogatory against several people groups. The diary entries have been typed as they were written, however, with the hope that people will view them in their context and that students will be led by teachers in discussions about prejudice.)
Dec. 2, 1911 - Ole & I shot 3 heavy charges of dynamite, and the jar was quite bad as it broke some window glasses in Follett's house. Clinton Miles and Jessie Follett drove our horse & buggy to Cloverdale today. They were married by Rev. Roosa. We chivaried them tonight at 9:15 PM. The large crowd was treated to cigars, candy and a dainty lunch with lemonade. Everyone had a good time.
Dec 10, 1911 - Grant & Mary Call Dawson's baby was born & died last nite and was buried at the Oretown Cemetary at 3 PM today.Dec. 18, 1911 - Irve Smith & family left today for Junction City, Ore. Ole took Roy Ward & wife to Cloverdale this forenoon. I hauled 2011 lbs. oats for G.S. Ward & 2 sacks barley for Jim Ward.
Dec. 29, 1911 - We attended a basket social at the Grange Hall - proceeds $50.00.
Dec. 31, 1911 - Ground had 1 1/4" frozen snow this AM.
Jan. 1, 1912 - I made 2 sleds for Frankie & Herbert this forenoon. Porter & family, Miss Berginroth, Ole & family, Willie & myself and famioly spent a pleasant day at Father's and Mother's. Had a good dinner. We attended a dance at the Grange Hall tonite. There was a large group.
Jan. 2, 1912 -Clear today. Ole, Mr. Porter, Mrs. Commons, W.W. Christensen, Mr. Follett & Mr. Berger went to Tillamook to attend court in regards to road business. Ole drove his team.
Feb 4, 1912 - Miss Bergenroth & Herbert Porter visited with us today.
Feb 7, 1912 - Bert Ray finished knitting our chinook net here today.Feb 8, 1912 - Mrs. Carver, Flora & Elma were here visiting today.
Feb. 15, 1912 - Auction sale at Jess Ward's in Neskowin. Yearlings sold well. One for $17.00. Old gray mare brought $30.00. There was a large attendance in spite of weather. Mr. Kranner of Cloverdale auctioned house goods. They went low. Willie & I went to Cloverdale & joined the Modern Woodsman of America. We joined as Charter Members.
Feb. 19, 1912 - Gertrude & I went to see Mr. Steinmassl to have him help us draw up plans for our new house.
Feb. 20, 1912 - Meda Cheese Factory commenced operations for the season. Lester Ray hauled the milk from this part of the country. We sent one can. So did Ole & Porters. Received 3 mail sacks full of garden & flower seeds from Jonathan Bourne. Gertie & I will distribute them tomorrow.
Feb. 25, 1912 - Sunday school & preaching by Rev. Clark.
Feb 27, 1912 - The grading for the Oretown Gospel Church was started this morning. ole & I broke first sod about 10 AM. Those present were Father Willie Ole & family, Porters, Mrs. Follett, Franklins, myself & family.
